Small Hours / Practical guide

Leave room for the story

A starting point using the actual files in the free library.

A background needs to work with your dialogue, characters and screen size. Test the layout before filling a whole scene with content.

  1. Enter a real line in the background studio. Your text stays on this device.
  2. Check whether text obscures an important prop. Adjust your own dialogue layout.
  3. Keep the image aspect ratio when scaling. Choose deliberate cropping or letterboxing for a narrower viewport.
  4. When switching states, compare fixed edges such as furniture and doors. Clinic Shift uses a fixed base for its time states; use the blend and zoom controls to inspect the furniture.

Pick the right permission

The Clinic Shift waiting-room sample and Daylight Scenes permit use in finished commercial games. The older station evaluation study is not included in the clinic sample.
